Movie Producer Aaron Russo Hits VoteFraud at Libertarian Party Convention

C-Span re-broadcast the Libertarian Convention on the night of July 2, 2000.

Movie Producer Aaron Russo squarely hit the “computerized votefraud issue” between the eyes in a part of his talk. Russo produced several successful Hollywood movies including Trading Places with Eddie Murphy; he was also the manager for singer Bette Midler for awhile, and so on.

Aaron Russo switched gears to run for Governor of Nevada in 1998. In July 1998 or so he called me for advice about how to handle the Election Director in that state, and how to ensure a fair count. The late Jim Collier, author of Votescam, had referred Russo to me. At the time I didn’t know that Jim Collier was quietly making his last stand against the pancreatic cancer that killed him.

Russo told me that he was going to make opposition to the National ID card, opposition to the IRS (I think that was the second issue), and Unverifiable Elections -- his three issues. In his radio and TV ads he talked about the first two issues, but never mentioned the votefraud issue. He made a strategic decision to try and work with the Elections officials and get the best deal he could under the computerized system that was in place. In my judgement, this is always a mistake, because it misses the point. The point is that there is no way for citizens or candidates to monitor such systems. Period.

We tried to get computer expert Howard J. Strauss of Princeton University (the one who was interviewed on the Dan Rather spot in 1988) to travel out to meet the Nevada Elections officials with Russo, but that didn’t pan out.

Aaron Russo called me again a few days before the November election and asked me to call the Nevada Board of Elections and see what could be done to ensure a fair count. I was up to my ears in alligators, but I called and talked to them a few times. With a few days to go, they, of course, stonewalled me with a mildly annoyed tolerance.

However, on his campaign videotape, “Mad as Hell”, Russo did mention the votefraud issue, and very effectively.

And that’s what he did at the 2000 Libertarian Party Convention over the July 4^th weekend. Russo hit systems with no paper trail, and especially those which rely on a bleep of energy, allowing citizens no effective check and balance.

If anyone knows where we can get or view a transcript of Russo’s speech so we can bring you a word for word exact quote – please let us know. The only thing I see on the Libertarian Party website is video re-broadcasts of the speeches, which I don’t have time to ferret through right now.

A field report from someone who attended the Libertarian Party Convention brings this observation: that, unfortunately, the vast majority of Libertarians do not care about winning, and therefore have no interest in the votefraud vs. honest elections battle. Furthermore, that most of the Libertarians who attended the convention do not recognize a “Ruling Elite agenda” or a “New World Order Agenda” as a critical factor on the public stage, so they can’t imagine any vast organized effort to get control of the vote count with the purpose of subverting it when necessary.

This gentleman told us that most Libertarians attending the convention erroneously believe that everything boils down to an intellectual battle, so it’s just a matter of presenting the best and most persuasive arguments.

Nothing could be further from the truth. The dominant faction in the Ruling Elite is evilly intentioned and of BAD WILL. They ignore truthful arguments all the time and put forth arguments for the sake of manipulating the public which they know are manifestly false. (This is not to say that this writer endorses all the arguments put forth by the Libertarian Party, although certain of the issues its leaders have spearheaded, such as July Nullification, are of the utmost importance to all Americans.)

The above state of dismissing the “honest vote count” issue – which was observed at the 2000 Libertarian Party Convention is in direct opposition to the awareness of the delegates at the Constitution Party Convention in St. Louis over Labor Day, 1999 --- where every delegate AND Presidential nominee Howard Phillips were perfectly aware of the issue. Phillips addressed it in his acceptance speech with great clarity, and it is also embodied in the Constitution Party platform.

Time will tell whether the delegates at the upcoming Reform Party convention in Long Beach, California will emulate the Libertarians or the Constitution Party on this vital issue.
